Sky (she/they) is a highly experienced university lecturer and social science researcher, specializing in gender issues, women migrations, transient migrants, post-colonial feminist movements, and the collective and cultural memory of women’s resistance in literature. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in International Culture and Communications at Waseda University in Japan.
Originally from the Philippines, she has been living in Tokyo for seven years and considers it her home. In the summer of 2023, she will relocate to Paris, France for an industry immersion at several working groups at the OECD.
Passionate about gender equality, she staunchly believes in the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and women to exercise autonomy over their bodies. She is also keenly interested in the challenges faced by queer communities, women migrants, and transient migrants from East and Southeast Asian countries. She aspires to highlight their stories, challenges, and issues, which are often marginalized within the broader narratives of social and political frameworks of migration.
