TERF

TERF is a term for trans-exclusionary radical feminists.

First recorded in 2008, the author of this word is unknown.

The term was originally used to describe a group of radical feminists who rejected the statement that trans women are real women and were against trans women in women’s spaces and transgender rights legislation.

The opposite group of trans-inclusive feminists states that these ideas are transphobic.

Today, the term TERF describes people with trans-exclusionary views even if they are not involved with radical feminism.

This kind of evolution can be very harmful to trans women. It is important that women’s spaces and resources are available and accessible to all women.
